Watermelon Jolly Rancher

Day 233

Watermelon Jolly Rancher
2.5 shots out of 5

Watermelon Jolly Rancher mixes vodka, melon liqueur and cranberry juice to give you a flavor all it's own.

It's Friday!!!!  Oh wait.......we have crazy busy weekends........BUT wait, the Giants are playing Game 1 of the playoffs on Saturday and Game 2 on Sunday!

I can NOT wait for the post season to start!

I gave tonight's cocktail 2.5 shots out of 5.

I found tonight's cocktail at the Moms In The City site.  First off I love the watermelon jolly ranchers.

Secondly I got excited when I saw the photo of this cocktail, it just looked good even though it was green and the candy is a medium pink.

Then I looked at the ingredients...... and thought.........maybe somehow this cocktail "would" magically look as green as the photo showed it to be.

No such luck.

Just like in my Barbie cocktail when the photo from the "other" site made it look neon pink........then I made it the same way and it was.......yellow/orange.

Anyways, I would not order this one at a bar or make it here again.

It just wasn't special enough, and it didn't taste good enough.

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is the recipe for a Watermelon Jolly Rancher:

  • 1/2 oz melon liqueur
  • 1 oz vodka
  • 1 1/2 oz cranberry juice
In a shaker add ice and all of the ingredients above.  Shake it up well and strain it into a chilled martini glass.

Good news is, Big Bird is still roaming around Sesame Street!  Bad news is tonight's cocktail wasn't as good as I'd hoped.

Cheers!!

  1. Their photo looks more like an apple martini. There's no possible way to get it that kind of green if you have ANY cranberry juice in it, never mind 3 times the amount of midori. I wonder why they post such ridiculousness.

    1. You know that stuff drives me crazy! I post my actual cocktails because I want everyone to know exactly what they look like. If someone was to take one of the recipes on here and make it themselves at home, I want theirs to look like mine, instead of mine being purple and theirs being yellow or something. I'm into the truth, not the glamour of the photo....don't get me wrong, I want my photos to look good, but I'm not going to lie about them.........ok, I feel better, ha ha.

Oh, and when I went back and looked at their photo again....there's a green apple in the background, so I'm sure you are right and it is some kind of apple martini.

  2. I think you just got a bad recipe of the drink. There's actually a lot more involved than just three ingredients. If made correctly, it tastes exactly like liquefied watermelon jolly rancher
