Bohemian

Day 198

Bohemian
4 shots out of 5

We made it!!  It's officially Friday at 5:00.

The weekend.....holiday weekend that is......is here!

Time for some pizza, beer and of course cocktails.

We've got a long, action packed weekend planned so this cocktail is absolutely what I need to get the weekend started off right.

I gave tonight's cocktail 4 shots out 5.

I found this cocktail recipe on the St. Germain website.

They have quite a few recipes on there.......I may have to break down and buy an actual real life sized bottle of this stuff to try some more of them out.

I honestly can't tell you which ingredient I can taste more of in this cocktail.

The three main ingredients in this cocktail are mixed together so well that they all just kind of blend together in a chilled scrumptiousness.

Guess I'll have to keep sipping and sipping and sipping to figure it out............then make another?

Wait do I have enough St. Germains.........yikes, I don't.

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

Here is the recipe for a Bohemian:

  • 1 oz gin
  • 1 oz St. Germains Elderflower
  • 3/4 oz grapefruit juice
  • 1 dash of Peychaud's Bitters
In a shaker add ice and all of the ingredients above.  Strain your mixture into a martini glass and enjoy!

Here's to the weekend!  Hope you all enjoy your holiday weekend......or non-holiday weekend if you don't live in the U.S.A.

Cheers!!

Frangelico & OJ

Day 197

Frangelico & OJ
3.5 shots out of 5

It's Thursday night and our first week of school is coming to an end.

We're already back into the swing of school days and getting up early.......well, having to leave the house early I should say.

The little ones ALWAYS get us up early.

I gave tonight's cocktail 3.5 shots out of 5.

Jenny had emailed me today to let me know that she bought a big bottle of Frangelico and now needs some cocktails to make with it.

I think she came to the right lady with that problem!

I went straight to the Frangelico site and found this quick and easy cocktail to try.

It's not half bad, I must admit.

I think you really need to have a taste for Frangelico to enjoy tonight's cocktail as well as a lot of the cocktails that I've made with it, such as the Slippery Panties, Chocolate Cake Shot or Chocolate Covered Pretzel.

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

Here is the recipe for a Frangelico & OJ:

  • 1 oz Frangelico
  • 3 oz orange juice
In a cocktail glass filled with ice, add your Frangelico and orange juice.  Stir up your cocktail and enjoy.

Here's to one more day of school this week and then an action packed weekend.

Cheers!!

Island Cake Cocktail

Day 196

Island Cake Cocktail
3.5 shots out of 5

Today was a hot one!

Actually it's still quite warm in our house.

I'm definitely needing a nice cool cocktail to end this hot day.

The kids first week of school is half over and our oldest daughter will be starting tiny tots next week, we're super excited.

I gave tonight's cocktail 3.5 shots out of 5.

This is a pretty good cocktail.  The cake flavoring in the vodka gives it such an unique (when I say "an unique" it sounds totally wrong and I want to change the "an" for an "a"......but I guess I have to go by the rule that "an" goes before a word that starts with a vowel) twist.

I think with just a regular flavored vodka, this cocktail simply would not be all that great.

I got tonight's recipe from the Pinnacle website (once again), but I halved the recipe......because that's all I really felt like drinking.

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

Here is the recipe for an Island Cake Cocktail:

  • 2 oz Pinnacle Cake Vodka
  • 2 oz pineapple juice
  • 2 oz orange juice
Fill your cocktail glass with ice and pour in all three ingredients above.  Stir it up well and enjoy!!

Here's to an Island cocktail.......it's the closest I'll get to visiting an island anytime soon.

Cheers!!

Dirty Swinger

Day 195

Dirty Swinger
3 shots out of 5

It's Tuesday night!

Softball tonight, yeay!

Since it's softball night, I'm once again going to go with a shooter.

Something quick and easy so that I can get out there on the field and play!

Have I mentioned that we are sponsored by our local Irish Pub?

One guess where we go after our games!

I gave tonight's cocktail 3 shots out of 5.

This shooter was OK.

It didn't make me cringe or make that crazy alcohol puckered up face at all.

It actually had a little bit of flavor, but not a huge burst of flavor like you would expect of a multi-ingredient shooter.

I was a little disappointed with it, but gave it a 3 because it could totally be a penalty shot in one of many drinking games.

If you are up for trying some of my shooters, I would definitely try some that I rated higher before you go for this one.

Here is a photo of the end result:

dirty swinger, melon liqueur, midori, pineapple juice, vodka, malibu mango rum, coconut mango rum

Here's to a hopeful win tonight!  Happy Tuesday everyone!

Red Velvet Cake

Day 194

Red Velvet Cake
3.5 shots out of 5

I have seen those Red Velvet Martinis that have been floating around Pinterest for quite some time now.

The really yummy looking ones call for some red velvet cake mix........which I don't have..........and can NEVER remember to get at the store.

I then went on a hunt for one that does not have the cake mix as an ingredient.

I found one on the..........ready for a big surprise?  Pinnacle vodka website!

I gave tonight's cocktail 3.5 shots out of 5.

The cake flavor in the vodka totally comes through, which is awesome......especially in this cocktail.  It comes through, but does not mask the chocolate flavor in the creme de cacao.

This cocktail is pretty good.

The more I sip it the more I like it.

For me, it's one of those cocktails that I can have one of, and then will need to switch to something else.

Thank You Pinnacle for all of your amazing cocktail recipes, I'm enjoying them!

Almond Biscotti Martini
4.5 shots out of 5

Almond Biscotti Martini, Almond Biscotti, Biscotti, vanilla vodka, vodka, amaretto, coffee liqueur, coffee milk, Almond Biscotti photo, Almond Biscotti picture, Almond Biscotti image

It's Sunday night!

School starts tomorrow and I have to say that I am kinda excited.

I'll have my 2 boys back in school and our oldest girl will be going to Tiny Tots a couple days a week.

It will be nice to be back in the routine of sending the kids off to school again.

I gave tonight's cocktail 4.5 shots out of 5.

Um, YUM!!!!

This is a very good cocktail!

I haven't had a biscotti in a long time, but from what I remember this cocktail definitely does remind me of them.

This is my first official cocktail using coffee too, which is kinda exciting.

I'm just glad that we didn't polish off the entire pot this morning.

The vanilla vodka, I think, is a perfect flavored vodka to make this cocktail with.

My husband LOVES biscottis, therefore I had to share tonight's cocktail with him.....so maybe I should make another one to make up for it?

Blue Orchid

Day 192

Blue Orchid
4.5 shots out of 5

We made it to Saturday!

What a whirlwind week we just had.

Between doctors appts, dentist appts., back to school shopping, friend sleep overs, baseball, soccer and a birthday boy....phewph, I'm pooped!!

I gave tonight's cocktail 4.5 shots out of 5.

Way to go Hpnotic!  Another great cocktail!

This cocktail is OH SO needed after this week and I'm more then happy that I made a good cocktail to have tonight!

The Hpnotiq and vanilla vodka work quite well together, I'm impressed.

The orange juice adds a nice little citrusey flavor to it as well.

This is a good addition to the Roq Candy Martini I made on Monday!

Both of these cocktails are winners in my book!

Orange Whipped-tini

Day 191

Orange Whipped-tini
4 shots out of 5

Well we made it!

My second oldest son is officially 8 years old today!

I can't believe it, time just goes by way too fast.

I'm glad this week is over.

It's been a long, sleepless week and I'm Oh So ready for the weekend!!

I gave tonight's cocktail 4 shots out of 5.

Pinnacle, you've done it again.

Great cocktail!

I am very much enjoying their Whipped Vodkas, they add such a nice creamy flavor to your cocktails.

I can totally taste the orange whipped flavor, as well as the pineapple juice and triple sec in this cocktail.

Not one ingredient completely overpowered another.

I think I can taste the vodka the most, but only by enough to make this an enjoyable cocktail.

Sweet Orange Cream

Day 190

Sweet Orange Cream
5 shots out of 5

Oh my goodness my second oldest turns 8 years old tomorrow.

Am I in denial?

Maybe a little bit.

We ran around ALL DAY LONG today getting everything ready for his family party this weekend.

He's very excited and so am I.

I gave tonight's cocktail 5 shots out of 5.

I am LOVING........yes LOVING this Pinnacle Orange Whipped vodka!!  It smells like a 50/50 bar.....or creamsicles if you're more familiar with that name for them.

I found tonight's recipe of the Pinnacle website.

If you're wondering why I go there to get a lot of my cocktail recipes that include their vodka, it's because they out of all people "should" have the best recipes for their vodkas.

So far I have been happy with what I've found, therefore I will continue to check them out for new, fun recipes.

Tonight's cocktail is one of those that I could make a big pitcher of for a party and everyone would enjoy it.......plus it would go fast!

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is the recipe for a Sweet Orange Cream:
(Pinnacle's site has each ingredient doubled, but I only had a sampler bottle, so I had to half it.)
  • 1 oz Pinnacle Orange Whipped vodka
  • 1 oz pineapple juice
  • 1 oz cranberry juice
In a short cocktail glass filled with ice, add all three ingredients above.  Stir up your cocktail and enjoy its deliciousness!!

Here's to you Pinnacle vodka and another amazing flavored vodka!!

Dark & Stormy

Day 189

Dark & Stormy
2 shots out of 5

We've made it to the half way mark of the week, Wednesday.

So far this week has been non-stop and I know it will only continue that way for the rest of the week.

Time to try a bottle that I've had in my bar for some time now.

I gave tonight's cocktail 2 shots out of 5.

WOW.......ginger beer.

Hmmm, well I've actually been quite interested in how this would taste and I have a feeling that I'm not really going to like any of the cocktails I mix it in.

When I first sip this cocktail I taste the Dark Rum.

Then the ginger beer kicks in and I have to admit.......it TOTALLY stings and tingles my tongue......not in a good way.

**(UPDATE because I am more knowledgeable now, lol.  I DO think that a different brand of Ginger Beer would be better.  I REALLY like the Bundabery Ginger Beer.)

I would never order this cocktail at a bar.

This cocktail is an exact example of the mistake I would make by ordering it at a bar and then refusing to waste money by not drinking it.

I would sit there and contemplate if drinking it really fast was better then spacing out my smaller sips.

I would make faces and not enjoy it at all.

Maybe less of an amount in a different cocktail that did not have Dark Rum in it would work better?

Who knows.

I got this recipe from Esquire.

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

Here is the recipe for a Dark & Stormy:

  • 2 oz Dark Rum
  • 3 oz Ginger Beer
  • 1/2 oz lime juice
In a taller cocktail glass, fill almost to the top with ice and add all of the ingredient above.  Stir it up and if you feel the need to put a little umbrella in your cocktail to protect it from it's "stormy" part, go ahead!

Well boo for my first experience with Ginger Beer, hopefully I'll find a good recipe for it before the "drink with in 3 days of opening" hits.

Cheers!!

Cajer Shot

Day 188

Cajer Shot
2.5 shots out of 5

It's softball Tuesday and we're missing 3 of our players, but thankfully we have friends who love to fill in for us.

Today is a nice warm day, but unfortunately we're stuck inside as both of my girls are sick, boo.

I gave tonight's cocktail 2.5 shots out of 5.

Jager........hmmmmm.

So if you sip this making sure you get the full extent of the whipped cream.....this shooter does taste quite a bit better.

Now if you sip this and miss the whipped cream.... unfortunately the Jager takes over and, um, yuck.

The cake vodka does hold it's own enough to give this shooter a 2.5 with minimal whipped cream, but that's all I can give it.

I got this shooter, again, from the Pinnacle site.

Here is a photo of the end result:

cajer shot, cocktail, cake vodka, jagermeister

Roq Candy Martini

Day 187

Roq Candy Martini
4.5 shots out of 5

Happy Monday!

This is our last week before school is back in session!

The boys start on Monday and our oldest girl will be starting tiny tots very soon after.

These kids are getting too big.

This Friday my second oldest will be turning 8, it's crazy to think that many years have gone by since he's been born and even crazier to think we had 2 more kids after him!

Wow, just thinking of that lets me know that tonight's cocktail is very, very needed!

I gave tonight's cocktail 4.5 shots out of 5.

I got this recipe from the Hpnotiq website.

This is a pretty darn good cocktail!

I enjoy Hpnotiq and the citrus flavored vodka mixed with it is a nice surprise.

The citrus flavor was a little shocking at first, I have to admit, but by sip 3 it was working very well in this cocktail.

The Roq Candy Martini is nice way to end a Monday.

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

Here's to Hpnotiq!  I really enjoy its flavoring and tonight's cocktail!
