Angry Balls

Look at me blogging twice in a week!  I guess it has been one of those kinds of weeks.

Angry Balls cocktail, hard apple cider, angry orchard, fireball whisky, cinnamon whisky

Our exciting week is almost coming to a conclusion with one more fun thing to do, our oldest sons graduation party.

I'm totally fine, I have had a year to prepare myself for the fact that our oldest is going to be staring high school in two and a half weeks (excuse me I just had to run over to him to announce that information I just figured out......I'm back).

I had planned to make tonight's cocktail weeks and weeks ago, but I guess I kept on finding other cocktails to make in the meantime and pushed it aside.  Tonight's the night.  It is time for some Angry Balls!!

I gave tonight's cocktail 3.5 shots out of 5.  On Facebook Fireball Whisky has a recipe for Angry Balls which is 8:1 and I thought that that was too much Angry Orchard so I amended it to my liking's.

I can definitely taste the cinnamon in the Fireball in my version as well as the apple cider from the Angry Orchard.  For me this is the best combo, but if you don't want as much cinnamon flavor I would go with 6:1.

Here is my recipe for Angry Balls:

  • 6 ounces hard apple cider
  • 1 1/2 ounces cinnamon whisky
In a taller cocktail glass pour in all of your ingredients above.  Give it a quick stir and enjoy!

Here's to a crazy week and a couple cocktails to make it that much better!

Pineapple Vanilla Martini

OK, so yes it's been a while.

But I swear I have been busy.......insanely busy to be exact!

Wait a minute, I thought summer was supposed to be the relaxing time of the year?

On a good note, we got tickets to Monday's Giants game and Tuesday's double header as well.

Three Giants games in two days?  Not bad if I do say so myself.....and I do.

Besides attending three baseball games, one of my best friends is coming up tomorrow and then we are going out to dinner with a couple old friends that I talked about here.

I am really looking forward to tomorrow night.  Then we have a bunch of things to do to get ready for our oldest's graduation party.

OK, I'm exhausted just typing all that out, good thing I made myself a new cocktail.

I gave this cocktail 4 shots out of 5.

I created this cocktail by simply thinking, what have I not used in a while?

Pineapple juice (or at least I don't remember using it in a while).  Vanilla vodka and pineapple just are great together.  Adding the Chambord on the bottom was a nice twist.

I did not stir in the Chambord, but next time I think I will to see how that tastes as well.

All in all, it was a good cocktail to make after not making once since my last post (I hear your gasps, yes I have not made one since my X-Rated Sunrise).

Here is my recipe for a Pineapple Vanilla Martini:

  • 1 ounce vanilla vodka
  • 1 ounce pineapple juice
  • 1/2 ounce Chambord

In a shaker, add ice, vanilla vodka and pineapple juice.  Shake and strain into a martini glass.  Pour your Chambord down the side of your glass and enjoy!

Here's to a hot hot day here and a cocktail to break up my week!

X-Rated Sunrise

Happy Friday to you all!

There goes another week.

It's been a crazy week for us all here and it is not over yet.  I'm looking forward to my husband BBQing dinner tonight though.

In two weeks I have a get together with three ladies that when we were in High School we used to call ourselves the Freaky Foursome.

I created this little BFF drawing where we could write it all in and we were totally cool.  One of these three I get to see at lease once a month when she comes up to visit us.  Another I haven't seen in six years when we all met at the San Diego zoo for the afternoon.  The third one......it's been years!

Sure I've seen her walking to and from her car at her folks house or I've seen her mom and said hello, but I haven't actually seen/sat down with/talked to her.......gosh I'd hate to say since High School......but it just may be that long!

Needless to say, I am really looking forward to having cocktails with these three ladies!!

I gave this cocktail 2.5 shots out of 5.

Some sips are better then others and they make me want to rate it a 3, but there are too many sips that are 2.5's.

I have never tried X-Rated Fusion before.

I went to their site which is where I got tonight's recipe and found a few different cocktails to choose from.  I had all of the ingredients for this one and that is why I chose it.

I am looking forward to trying some of the cocktails that have vodka in them as well.  This cocktail is OK.  I wouldn't order it and probably wouldn't make it again.

In a tall cocktail glass filled 3/4 with crushed ice pour in your X-Rated Fusion.  Next pour in your tequila and finally your orange juice.  Give it a stir and drink.

Here's to my first X-Rated cocktail!

Could it be.........something I don't have?

We just got home from a week up at the lake with my parents for the Fourth Of July.

We do this every year and everyone really looks forward to it.

This year it was hotter then hot, with temperatures reaching (on my birthday of all days) 111 degrees!  Yes that was hot, but the thing that made these high temperatures unbearable was the dang humidity!

Oh that stuff was horrible.

Following the hot temperatures was a pretty cool lightening and thunder show followed by overnight rain.  Once all of that made it's way through, the Fourth was beautiful!!

We once again went out on the boat when it got dark (which is like 9:45) and sat there and watched the firework show.......beautiful!

What did we come home to you ask?

Well another baseball tournament of course!

We also squeezed a little birthday get together in for me Saturday night.

Which brings me to the reason of this post.

I guess it can be a little intimidating to buy The Cocktail Lady a bottle of booze for her birthday.

I mean......what does she have?

What doesn't she have?

Will she judge me if I buy her this one?

Will she even like that one?

I did receive one bottle of alcohol from a friend and I am very excited to say that it is a bottle that I do NOT have and also one that I have been WANTING to buy forever!

Thank You Jen for my X-rated and variety of flavors!!

I love them and can't wait to use them!!

Here is a photo of what I got:

I hope you all had a very safe and fun Fourth of July (those of you in the U.S.A. that is).  If you don't live in the U.S.A., I hope you had a great weekend!!

Cheers!
