Cupid's Day Off

Cupid's Day Off

Happy Happy Friday!  Another week done and now it is time to enjoy the weekend.

It has been a crazy, stressful, successful week......why you ask?.......because we did a 3-Day Potty Training Bootcamp this week, which was SUPER successful and I HIGHLY recommend it if your child is ready.

Your child must be ready.........trust me, with our second child I pushed and pushed the potty training thing with him.

He wasn't ready.

I was and he wasn't.

That was a VERY stressful experience and I vowed to just wait until they are ready and when they are it happens and it happens pretty quickly.

Here is a link to the 3-Day Potty Training Bootcamp if anyone is interested.

Onto what you are actually here for, cocktails!

Today I created a delicious cocktail for Valentine's Day.

All of these ingredients work wonderfully together and create one of those cocktails that could be dangerous......yup, totally dangerous.

I have a feeling I will be making these in the very near future....like later on today perhaps?  (P.S. I rate this cocktail 5 shots out of 5.....for some reason my rating system is not working)

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

Here is my recipe for a Cupid's Day Off:

  • 1 1/2 ounces whipped vodka
  • 1/2 ounce Cointreau
  • 2 ounces cranberry cocktail juice
  • 1/2 ounce lime juice

In a shaker, ad ice and all of the ingredients above.  Shake and strain into a martini glass, sit back and enjoy this one....not too fast....or fast, just make sure you have extra ingredients so that you can make another one too.

Here is to a VERY successful week and a weekend to celebrate it!

Cheers!!

White Chocolate Covered Cherry

White Chocolate Covered Cherry

We have two and a half weeks until Valentine's Day.  Which gives me one less day until my oldest daughter turns 5.

Wait.......5?!?!

That means........oh my.......that means kindergarten is right around the corner, yikes!  It's something that I know in the back of my head, but every time I say it out loud it still kinda shocks me.

One girls going to start school in the fall and the other is on a 3 day potty training (Bootcamp I like to call it) extravaganza.

I found this 3 day method where they swear it works, so I thought I'd give it a try.

We are on Day 2 today and I have to say, so far so good!

A friend of mine has started her own blog for her company Partee Of Four.  You can find some of her work here in a review I did.  She asked me to write a Valentine Day Cocktail Round Up for her blog, which I told her I would love to do.

That got me thinking......maybe I should create a Valentine shooter to go in that post.

Today's cocktail is a White Chocolate Covered Cherry.

We had a mini brunch over the weekend that I had hosted to help introduce Pinnacles new flavor, Cinnabon.

About an hour into the brunch I pulled out all of my Pinnacle flavored vodka bottles.

One of my guest really enjoyed the Cherry flavored vodka, which got me to thinking......if I was to cover a cherry in white chocolate, that would be yummy and Valentiney!

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is my recipe for a White Chocolate Covered Cherry:

  • 1/2 ounce cherry vodka
  • 3/4 ounce Godiva white chocolate liqueur
  • 1/4 ounce grenadine

In a shaker, add ice and all three ingredients above.  Shake and strain into a shot glass.

Here's to Pinnacle and all of their amazing flavors.

Cheers!

Arctic Chill Ice Balls

**Some links in this post are affiliate links, meaning, at no additional cost to you, I will earn a commission if you follow the link and make a purchase.

Happy Monday everyone!

I was contacted again by Arctic Chill to review another one of their items.  Back in November I reviewed their Stainless Steel Muddler which I used to make my very first Mojito.

In the mail I received a free box of 4 BPA free Silicone Ice Ball Makers.  They sent me this for free so that I would give an honest review on this item.  All views are my own.  I was not compensated for them in any way.

They all looked like this one:

I filled them all up with water and found out that you are not supposed to fill them up completely to the top.

Once filled completely, I poured out a little bit of water so that during the freezing process the water wouldn't come out of the hole on the top and spill onto the drawer they were sitting on.

I still haven't perfected that yet, but either way it's not a big deal if they do spill out.  Ice is easy to pick up and toss into the sink.

Here is what one of my ice balls looked like:

Some of them had cracks in them, some did not.

The ones that did have cracks were absolutely fine to use.

The cracks did not go all the way through the ice balls so they did not crumble when I removed them from their mold.

The ice balls are pretty easy to remove from their molds.  You can basically peel back the sides a little and the ice ball will come out.  Only 1 time out of 8 did I need to run warm water over the outside of the mold for 2 seconds to release the ice ball.

Here is a photo of the mold after I removed one of the ice balls from it:

All in all, I think these molds are great.

Last weekend I hosted a small brunch and made a punch in a punch bowl.

I used 4 of these ice balls to chill my punch and they worked perfect.

They took their time melting which was nice because I didn't want my punch watered down.  These Arctic Chill Ice Ball Makers ** would make a great gift ** for that person who has everything, or even for that person who doesn't.

Thank you again Rizzi for sending me another great product!

Cheers!

Valentine Kiss

This Valentine's Kiss is the perfect Valentine's Day cocktail.  It combines 3 simple ingredients for an extra delicious taste!

Delicious cocktail with coconut rum, cranberry juice and peach schnapps.

It's January and today's weather was quite warm.

We were out in the backyard blowing bubbles for a while this afternoon and I almost wanted to go back in and change out of my jeans into shorts.

I love love love the sun and the warm weather......the only thing bad about days like today is the unfortunate fact that we are in a drought right now.

On a better note, this weekend will be fun.

We will be celebrating my Grandma's 98th birthday, our oldest's 15th "Friend Party" Birthday as well as hosting a small Brunch at our house, thanks to Pinnacle Vodka!

They have a new flavor which is Cinnabon and it is not yet available up here in California where we live (it's only made it to Southern CA so far), so I am excited to be receiving a bottle and trying it out this weekend.

I had found another Valentine cocktail online, made it, and tried it........yuck!  It had a horrible after taste of cough syrup, bleck.  I dumped it and just created my own yummy cocktail.

This cocktail has three simple ingredients, it's red, it goes down easy.....very easy and it's almost gone.  What more could you ask for?

My Valentine Kiss is a perfect cocktail to make for a Valentine gathering.

It's easy to make and if you are having a larger crowd over you could always make it in pitcher form, no problem.

If your Valentine gathering includes yourself, or another person, these can be made by the one's and two's as well.

Here's to a fun filled weekend and a new cocktail for you all to try out during it!

Passion Cocktail

Passion Cocktail

Passion Cocktail is a Valentine's Day tequila cocktail packed with a great flavor.

Did you watch the NFC game last night?

Oh, so many different things I could go on and on about.....but I won't.  I'll spare you.  All I can say is, Good Season Niners!  There is always next year.

Last night we celebrated our oldests son's 15th birthday.  We had a family celebration and what a good time we all had.

We are so very lucky that our families get along and not only that, they really enjoy spending time together.  It makes every family gathering even better.

Our third oldest's birthday is coming up, which means she is turning 5......which means (gasp) I will have three children in school come August!

WOW, where does the time go?

This year we will be having a Disney's Frozen birthday party.  I am thinking of getting these wall decals to stick up on the walls.

I did that with princess ones probably 2 years ago, and LOVED how they came right off the walls when the party was over.  We were able to stick them all back up on the walls in the girls room after the party and they're still there today.

Love Them!!

With Valentine's Day around the corner, I have set off on a search for Valentine cocktails.

I pinned last years cocktails here on my Pinterest board and plan to add more upcoming cocktails I make for this year.

Today's cocktail is called Passion Cocktail.

I found a recipe online and tweeked it a little bit to ensure that I would like it better.

First and foremost, I taste the tequila.

If you enjoy tequila cocktails, you will definitely enjoy this one.

I am not a huge fan of the taste of tequila, but I will admit that the taste of it in this cocktail isn't half bad.  It doesn't make me cringe at all, but it lets me know it's there.  I think this cocktail is pretty good.

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is my recipe for a Passion Cocktail:

  • 1 ounce silver tequila
  • 1 1/2 ounces cranberry cocktail juice
  • 1/2 ounce lime juice
  • 1 ounce Grand Marnier

In a shaker, add ice, tequila, cranberry cocktail juice and lime juice.  Shake and strain into a martini glass.  Top off with the Grand Marnier and enjoy!

Here's to my first Valentine cocktail of the season!

Last & First Call

I was sent product to try and review.  I was not paid for my review.  These are my honest opinons of this product.

Heellllooooo!

Yes, yes I am still alive!

Holy Moly I wanted to post sooo many more times then I have this year......how many have I posted so far this year you ask?

Let's see....add up those, multiply by that and carry the 9?......Yea, this would be my very first post of the year.

Sorry.

Oh and by the way, if you didn't know.......MY NINERS ARE PLAYING ON SUNDAY!!!!

Let's Go Niners!!

We got hit by the nasty nasty flu that has been going around and boy is it horrible.

Started with me (oh joy), then went to our youngest (who whenever she gets a fever it always seems to start out at 105 degrees.....poor baby) and next to my husband.  My husband and my fevers lasted 3 days and so far our youngest has lasted 6 days and today would be day 7.

She seemed OK so far today, but we'll see if that fever comes back tonight (fingers crossed it doesn't).

I was sent a sampler variety pack of Oddka Vodka to try out in the mail.

I had my eye on the apple pie flavored vodka, and was sent a couple recipes to try.  Today I tried out Last & First Call by Oddka.

I must admit, this cocktail is pretty darn good.

Now I haven't had anything to drink in over a week thanks to my sickness.......so I'm hoping this cocktail doesn't go straight to my head, haha.  The apple pie flavoring in this cocktail stands out for sure and mixes well with the other ingredients in this recipe.

I will be finishing this cocktail for sure, Happy Friday to me!

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

Here is a photo of Oddka's sampler pack, plus a couple extra they sent.  Thanks Oddka!!  Yes you are reading those flavors correct, Salty Caramel Popcorn, Electricity, Wasabi, Apple Pie & Fresh Cut Grass.

Here is the recipe for Last & First Call:

  • 2 ounces apple pie vodka
  • 1 ounce lemon juice
  • 3/4 ounce simple syrup
  • 1 1/2 ounces pineapple juice

In a shaker, add ice and all of the ingredients above.  Shake and strain into a martini glass and enjoy.  Oddka's recipe also calls for 3 raspberries and 3 blackberries to garnish.  Since I've been in the house for the past week, I wasn't able to get those at the store so I went without.

Here is to my first cocktail in a week.  Here is to Oddka Vodka for sending me this variety pack of vodkas.  Lastly here is to nobody else getting sick in this house (and your house too)!
