Cranberry Gimlet

Thank You to Bombay Sapphire Gin for sponsoring this post

Happy Monday!

Today is officially the very last day of June, which means at midnight this year is officially half over.

Would you hate me if I told you that I have already started my Christmas shopping?

You know.....I need to start it early and do a little every month, that way we spread out the costs for all of the presents.  Otherwise we are stuck with a very scary bill in December.

I was sent a link to a video of a competition that Bombay Sapphire holds every year for 3 years running now.  The competition is called "The World's Most Imaginative Bartender".  So the imaginative part got me wondering......what kind of ingredients are they using?

I have only seen the winners recipe and based on one of his ingredients......I can only imagine what the other contenders used.

The winner created a cocktail he called "Paper Anniversary" and the ingredients were Bombay Sapphire, Homemade paper syrup and Salt solution.

Now that's pretty imaginative!  What a fun competition!  The fact that the had finalist from all different countries was pretty darn cool I thought!

Here is a look at the video if you wanted to take a look at the final contestants:

OK, so I got inspired!

Well not inspired enough to create my own ingredients, but enough to create a new cocktail.
In the past I have done a Gin Gimlet and a Raspberry Gimlet and have really enjoyed them!
That's why I wanted to create a different Gimlet with an ingredients that I know I like.  This cocktail is really good!  It's actually....almost gone now!

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is my recipe for a Cranberry Gimlet:

  • 1 1/2 ounces gin
  • 1 1/2 ounces cranberry cocktail juice
  • 1/2 ounce lime juice
In a shaker, add  ice and the three ingredients above.  Shake and strain into a martini glass and enjoy!

Here's to wishful thinking that maybe one day I'll be The Most Imaginative Bartender of the Year!

Dingo

Just finished watching the end of the Giants game and am happy to say that Timmy just pitched a No-Hitter!

Unfortunately he got a huge container of powerade dumped on him (that's not the unfortunate part) and the top of the container seems to have knocked him in the back of his head.

After the second container was dumped on him, he ran downstairs into the locker room.

Gosh I hope he's OK.

Poor guy.

I have had my eye on this cocktail for quite some time.  About a week or so ago I was going to make it and then opened up my fridge and notices that I didn't have any OJ left.

Love it when the kids finish stuff and don't tell me about it.....

I found this cocktail over at Hampton Roads Happy Hour.

This cocktail is pretty good.

I have used Southern Comfort in two other cocktails so far.  The first was the Funky Cold Medina.....wasn't a huge fan of that one.

Then I tried it in the cocktail White Christmas, HUGE success!

My husband and I loved it as well as just about all of our friends and family.  Today was time to give So Co another shot (sure there was a little bit of pun there, I'll admit it).

The So Co definitely gave this cocktail a different flavor then I'm used to.

My first sip threw me so I had to take a couple more to really get the taste for it.  It's pretty good.  Not a favorite, or go to cocktail for me, but pretty good.  I'm thinking that if you are a So Co fan, you might just like this one.

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

Here is the recipe for a Dingo:

  • 1 1/2 ounces light rum
  • 1 ounce Southern Comfort
  • 1 ounce amaretto
  • 1 ounce sweet & sour mix
  • 2 ounces orange juice
  • 1/2 ounce grenadine

In a shaker, add ice and all of the ingredients except for the grenadine.  Shake well and dump everything into a margarita glass.  Pour the grenadine down the side of the glass.

Here's to a fun cocktail of different colors!

Apple Pie Chata

We made it!

Day 5 is here and I now have 5 new cocktails that contain Rum Chata!

Yeay.

Let me tell you.......tonight's cocktail IS SOOOO NEEDED!

I made today a "No TV or computer game day".  Wait that's not the bad part, it actually went well........until we left the house.

Rewind....this morning the girls were playing in their room so peacefully.  Our second oldest son was doing his thing and would occasionally pop in the girls room to see what they were doing, it was nice.

I took our oldest son to get his hair cut.  Everything was going well.  We got home and the girls and youngest son had the girls room so clean, HUGE smile on my face.

OK, then like I promised you, let's head off to Michael's (local crafty kind of store) to find some fun things to do over the summer.

That's where we fell apart.

We get to the store, yeay.

Everyone's excited....then they start touching.......EVERY-THING.  I honestly can not count how many times I told them to stop touching....I was trying my hardest to use my "We're in public so I am going to try to talk stern, yet calmly to you" voice.

We finally got out of there and into the car where I proceeded to tell them where they went wrong.

There was denial that they did anything wrong, until I pointed out exact times and isles where "said incidents" happened.....which quieted them down.

Now I'm all for getting excited and finding fun things to pick out and of course you need to touch them to get them and check them out, but WE DON'T NEED TO TOUCH EVERYTHING......ESPECIALLY THE GLASS ITEMS!!

Phewph.....ok, sorry........rant done......now onto the cocktail!

I created tonight's cocktail with my apple pie liqueur because in a way with the spices I taste in the Rum Chata, reminds me of the spices (sort of) in my apple pie liqueur.

I thought they would be a good match.

I was right.

This is a pretty good cocktail!

Here's to 5 Days Of Rum Chata!  I had fun and I hope you all had fun following me in my adventure this week!

Buttered Monkey

Rum Chata, vanilla vodka, banana liqueur, butterscotch schnapps, buttered monkey, buttered monkey photo, buttered monkey picture, buttered monkey image, buttered monkey recipe

Here we are, Day 4 and I have to say that I have been enjoying my challenge of "5 Days of Rum Chata"!

Today is another beautiful day here, boy are we lucky to have such nice weather right now.

The only bad thing is that we have "more or less" had such nice weather all year that we are in a drought and our lakes and rivers aren't what we all hope they would be in the summer.

It is what it is, we'll enjoy it either way.

Today I decided to try one of Rum Chata's cocktail recipes instead of a shooter.  I had seen some with banana liqueur and some with butterscotch schnaps.

Then I found this one which had both!  (That made me happy).

This cocktail is really good.

It's creamy, yet spicy, yet butterschotch-ey and a little banana-ey which makes this combination delicious!  Another winner from the good people at Rum Chata!

If this sounds good to you I highly recommend you try it!

Like right now......try it!

Confetti

confetti cocktail, rum chata, cake vodka, confetti recipe, confetti image, confetti picture, confetti photo

Happy Wednesday everyone!  It's Day 3 of my "5 Days Of Rum Chata"!

WOW the weather has been really nice here lately!  Love it.  We are officially half way through our first week of having everyone home.  What have we been up to?  NOTHING!!  It's been great!!

We do have a list of things we want to do, but I have got to admit......this doing nothing at the beginning........WINNING!

Oh and by the way, we won our game last night!!  That means we're going to playoffs!!

Today (for all of my sprinkle loving friends), I decided to make a shooter I found on the Rum Chata site called Confetti.

I will admit....for some reason I wasn't sure about the cake flavored vodka with the Rum Chata.  Once I took a sip I could see that I was completely wrong for being nervous.

This shooter is delicious!!  I think it's my favorite so far.  If you like cake vodka, I strongly recommend trying this cocktail for sure.

I hope you are all enjoying my week of Rum Chata so far.

Don't worry, it doesn't have to end on Friday.  If you send me you favorite Rum Chata recipes I'll do my best to try and blog about them!

Apples & Jacks

It's Day 2 of my "5 Days of Rum Chata".

Tonight we have our last league softball game.

It all comes down to tonight!

If we win then we move onto the playoffs......if we loose, we go back to our Tuesday night dinner & drinks like we do between seasons.

Fingers crossed that we win tonight!

Today I am making another cocktail that I found on Rum Chata's website.

We had a box of Apple Jacks in the cupboard, so I figured why not try this shooter so that I can use some in my photo!

This shooter tastes very similar to the milk left behind in your bowl after you have finished a bowl of Apple Jacks.

The only thing different is the extra cinnamon spicy taste that the Rum Chata puts in your mouth.  I'm not complaining about that taste, just pointing out the difference.

All in all, this is a pleasant tasting shooter!

Golden Cinnamon Grahams

Happy Monday!

Today is Day 1 of my "5 Days Of Rum Chata"!

I have not yet tried Rum Chata and I have heard a lot about it lately......so I decided that it was time to try it.  What better way to try it, then to make it every day for 5 days?!?!

Father's Day is over, which means that this year is just about half over with.

All of my kids are out of school as of last Friday which means that summer break has officially started!

Yeay, finally!!

Time to spend some quality time with the kids and be outdoors more then we've been able to lately.

Today's shooter, Golden Cinnamon Grahams (found on Rum Chatas site), was the first recipe I had heard about when I was talking about buying a bottle of Rum Chata.

Good thing too, because it has Fireball in it, and we all know what a Fireball kick I've been on lately.

What I have read about this shooter is that it tastes like the milk at the end of your bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch (once all of the cereal has been eaten).

I pretty much agree!

Day 1 has been a success!

Day 2~Apples & Jacks

Day 3~Confetti
Day 4~Buttered Monkey
Day 5~Apple Pie Chata

Here is a photo of the end result:

Flaming Orgasm

Last day of school, last day of school!!!

Hip hip hooorayyy!!!

This house was buzzing last night because our second oldest's last day of school is today!

This morning I was still in bed and my son walks in, "Morning Mom!".

I check the clock thinking I must have missed the alarm.....nope.

I said, "Well you're up early.  Excited about your last day of school?"

He said "YES!  I have been up since 6:20 this morning."

Since it's a half day today.....let the summer begin!

I found a cocktail I wanted to make today on my Cocktails pinterest board.

I was excited because I wasn't feeling "creative" enough to create one myself.

I pulled out all of the ingredients and then went to the fridge to get the OJ.......nothing.

Dang it.

I searched and searched for another one.

Nothing.

Then I got to thinking of how much fun our Fireball shots were a few weeks ago.......and thought, what if I create something with Fireball??

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!!

Oh and I have added a bunch of items to my "The Cocktail Lady" store.  Check it out here.  I want to work on more designs soon and put them up there as well.  But for now, these are what I have.

Here is a photo of the end result:

flaming orgasm cocktail, baileys, irish cream liqueur, kahlua, coffee liqueur, fireball whisky, cinnamon whisky, amaretto

Patriotic Celebration

The Patriotic Celebration has red, white and blue alcohol to make it look amazing!

Happy Tuesday!

It's softball Tuesday for me, which I am excited about.

Tonight we are playing a really good team filled with fun players.  It will be a good time.

My second oldest is on a field trip right now with his class which he was excited about, so I can't wait to hear all about it when he gets home.

My oldest, the girls and I are just relaxing at home.....we had a busy day yesterday.

There has been a lot of talk about the 4th of July around here lately which has given me the idea to create a new patriotic cocktail.

I searched through my bar for something blue...blue curacao?

Nope, couldn't find any........ahhhh, blueberry schnapps = perfect!  I haven't used this in a while and it's definitely time to use it again.

This cocktail is SUPER good!

It is definitely one to drink on a warm/hot day.

This cocktail has cake vodka (hence the "celebration" part) and the blueberry schnapps mixes well with it especially topped with the sprite, yum!

I poured some grenadine down the side to give it that American feel and it is perfect!

Here is a photo of the end result:

The Patriotic Celebration is a great cocktail for The 4th Of July.

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

Here is my recipe for a Patriotic Celebration:

  • 1 1/2 ounces cake vodka
  • 1 ounce blueberry schnapps
  • 3 ounces lemon-lime soda
  • 1/2 ounce grenadine

In a shaker, add ice, cake vodka and blueberry schnapps. Shake and dump everything into a cocktail glass.  Add more ice until glass is filled 3/4 full.  Pour sprite on top.  Pour grenadine down the side of the glass.

Here is to a new layered patriotic cocktail!
