Polish Delight

Thank You to Match.com for sponsoring this post

Happy Saturday everyone!

This last week has been (at least for me) insane!!

Completely insane.....I honestly can't believe it's finally Saturday!

I have had deadlines galore that were personal, work related and even ones I've put on myself.  I do see the light at the end of the tunnel though, which is wonderful.

Our second oldest is turning "double digits" tomorrow.

If you haven't guessed....it is a VERY exciting time for him!

He has been counting down since there were "8 days left" to count.  The magic number today is "1"!!  Yeay!!  Today is his friends party, going to go see Earth To Echo.  Tomorrow is the family & friends (our friends who are the kids Aunts and Uncles) party.  We are all very much looking forward to both of those celebrations.

I was asked to create a Polish inspired cocktail which people can make on a date for the Polish dating section of match.com.

I was happy to be asked.

Apparently they have an advice section (http://advice.uk.match.com/polish-dating) where they answer many of the questions people ask about dating.  I did some research and came up with vodka, apple juice, apple cider and honey liqueur as all being common when making cocktail in Poland.

That was a great find because I have been looking for another opportunity to use my honey liqueur.

That aside, I knew that I didn't want to make a super sweet and sugary cocktail.  I also didn't want to make a bright or odd colored cocktail as well.

I needed to create something that both men and women would want to make, or even order at a bar or restaurant.  I decided to stick with my findings and add a little something extra to it as well.

This cocktail is really good.  I can taste the honey liqueur which is nice.  It is not completely overwhelming or anything at all.  It is just enough to let you know it is in there.  All in all, I think I have created a good one!

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

Here is my recipe for a Polish Delight:

  • 2 ounces vodka
  • 1/2 ounce Elderflower Liqueur
  • 1/2 ounce honey liqueur
  • 2 ounces apple cider

Fill up a cocktail glass with ice cubes.  In a shaker, add ice and all of the ingredients above.  Shake and strain your mixture into the cocktail glass filled with ice cubes and enjoy your date!

Here's to dates, whether this date is your first, tenth or hundredth.  Enjoy it and have a great time!

Cheers!!

Tastefully Simple Review & Giveaway

Tastefully Simple Review & Giveaway

I was sent a free product to review in exchange for my honest opinion.  All views in this post are mine and I was not compensated for them in any way.

I was contacted and sent product from a company called Tastefully Simple.

They asked me to choose 3 items to review (yeay 3!!) and then here comes the BEST part.....I get to give my favorite flavor away to 2 of my readers!!  More on that at the bottom, now onto the review.

The flavors I chose were Fuzzy Navel, Piña Colada and the Triple The Fun 3-pack which includes Lovin' Lemon, Juicy Watermelon Margarita & Mango Breeze Margarita.

The two bigger single containers make 8-8oz servings and the smaller ones in the 3-pack make 4-8oz servings.

What you get when you order one is:
  • A container that you use to mix everything up in and then stick in the freezer
  • The powdered flavor mix
What you need to supply is:
  • Water
  • Alcohol type that is asked for depending on the mix you choose
If you choose to make a non-alcoholic version then just skip the alcohol which allows you to no spend any additional money for preparation.  I'm sure you all have already guessed.....I added the alcohol!

The end result is a flavorful slushy cocktail.

All in all, this is a pretty cool way to enjoy a cocktail on a hot summer day!

For that cocktail enthusiast in your life who seems to have it all, I bet you they don't have one of these!  Give them a fun alternative to serving cocktails.

When I made and froze the first one I opened it up to look inside and saw a frozen block.  I guess I took the directions "stir & serve" too literally.

I tried stirring and chopping and whatnot to make it drinkable.  Hello, frozen!  Then I decided that the best thing to do is to open it up and sit it on the counter and let it soften a bit.

I suggest to check it and break it up every 5-10 minutes until it becomes good and slushy.  Once it is the consistency that you want, stir it up really well.  Then you can scoop it into a glass and either drink it or use a spoon and eat it that way.

I want to thank Tastefully Simple for sending me these fun slushy cocktail mixes to try!  I had fun and enjoyed it.

Want to order your own slushy cocktail mixes?  Check out tastefullysimple.com and order some today!!

Now onto the contest!!  Given that my favorite flavor was the Juicy Watermelon Margarita Mix, Two lucky winners will win one Triple The Fun 3-pack from Tastefully Simple!

You MUST live in the USA to enter.  I will contact you via the email address you provide.  Good luck!!

Chocolate Raspberry Cinnamon Cake

Chocolate Raspberry Cinnamon Cake is the BEST cocktail to bring all of those flavors together!

To say it's been hot is an understatement.

Last weekend we were able to take an extended weekend stay with one of my BFF's at her place in Fresno.

HOLY HOT WEEKEND!!

I think the hottest it got was somewhere around 110 degrees.  Yea that's too hot for me.....and of course the day we left it was about 20 degrees cooler......figures!

We were able to go to a water park with some pretty darn cool water slides while we were up there which was one of the bestest ideas ever!!

The kids were all sooo good and the water just helped everyone not be grouchy (myself included!!)

We were able to watch the Fresno Grizzles play (SF Giants AAA team) which was a great time and I now want a Grizzlies Hat.  Once we got home we got to check two items off of our Summer Time Bucket List, yeay us!!

Today I looked in my bar and noticed that I really haven't used my raspberry vodka in quite some time.  I pulled it out and a couple other bottles caught my eye, so I decided to get creative.

I created a pretty good cocktail which I topped with Cool Whip, which.....let's be honest, makes everything better!!

Here is a photo of the end result:
