Patriotic Cocktails for the 4th of July

Patriotic Cocktails
For The 4th Of July

This past weekend was amazing!

We had our family reunion which brought family in from all over the states.

My grandma is 1 of 9 children, so you can only image the amount of people we can get at these reunions.

The weather was perfect which brought us all to the pool for a great time.  There was laughing, singing, dancing and LOTS and LOTS of drinking!

Our family is kind of known for the way we can put back a few so as you can imaging the laughing, singing and dancing only got better at the days went by.

The weather this past weekend reminds me of how hot it gets for the 4th of July.  With that holiday just around the corner, I wanted to share with you some of my Patriotic Cocktail I've made over the years.

This shooter I made 4 years ago!  It's kind of amazing to think that I have been blogging for over 4 years.  Crazy actually!  Here is my Red White & Blue Shooter.

I initially made this fun cocktail 4 years ago, but felt the need to share it with you all again not too long ago.

This one is called Red White & Hpnotiq Blue Martini.  Just looking at the picture now makes me want to go out and buy a bottle of Hpnotiq, mmmmm.

This next shooter I made 3 years ago.  When I think of home cooking and America, I think of my grandma's apple pies.  This Apple Pie shooter is very delicious and simple to make.

Next up is a milkshake I made 3 years ago.

This one I call Memorial Milkshake.  It is the perfect cocktail to make on a nice hot day.

This fun cocktail I also made 3 years ago.

When I initially was trying to make this cocktail I was completely going for a blue cocktail.  Apparently that didn't go too well and it turned out purple, but hey, purples a great color too!  Here is my Purple Independence.

Onto another fun layered cocktail that I made 2 years ago.  This cocktail, Patriotic Celebration, was fun to make and equally fun to look at.  It's was quite tasty and very patriotic looking.

Remembrance is a very refreshing cocktail.  I also created this cocktail 2 years ago.

Although you can not see the different colors of ingredients in this cocktail, I can tell you that I do have red, white and blue all mixed up inside.

Finally the last cocktail is one that I made last week!

With summer weather beginning to hang around more often then not lately, I had decided to create something with watermelon puree.  This is my American Watermelon Daiquiri.

Those are the fun, delicious and tasty Patriotic Cocktails that I have made over the past 4 years.  Do you have any favorite Patriotic Cocktails that you like to enjoy?  I'd love to hear about them!

Cheers!

American Watermelon Daiquiri

American Watermelon Daiquiri

Patriotic, American, Cocktail

So many exciting things happening around here!

This weekend we are having a Family Reunion which I am super excited about.  My grandma (yes the one who turned 100, you can see her pic on my Chocolate Whipped Cherry post) is one of 9.

All remaining 5 will be in attendance at this reunion, which I think is awesome!

Our family is all over the U.S.A., so the cousins take turns putting the whole thing together which is a great way to see a lot of different states.

My grandma will be the oldest one there and I know a couple of my cousins have recently had little ones, so the youngest (if I am getting this right) will only be a few months old.

What an amazing range of ages, right?!  We get together and do this once every 3 years, so it will be an absolute BLAST hanging out with the whole family this weekend.

I've been seeing Patriotic stuff ALL OVER Pinterest lately, which is also very exciting!

I love, love, love the 4th of July!

I have been pinning some fun stuff if you want to check it out.  I have my "My Patriotic Cocktail & Shooters" board, my "Patriotic Yummies" board as well as my "Patriotic Crafts" board.  They all have some AWESOME stuff in them and I can guarantee you that I will be pinning more!

Watermelon always reminds me of summertime.

Although I do not like to eat watermelon, I DO like this watermelon puree I recently purchased by Finest Call.  Pretty darn delicious if you ask me!

It was suuuuper fun to pull out the blender today to whip this cocktail up.  It's been a long time since I last had make a blended cocktail, I almost forgot how much fun it was.  Oh and if you're wondering, tonight's cocktail is "Husband Approved"!

Here is my recipe for an American Watermelon Daiquiri:

Red, White & Hpnotiq Blue Martini

Day 140

Red, White & Hpnotiq Blue Martini
4.5 shots out of 5

patriotic cocktail, 4th of july, hpnotiq

**This posts pictures have been updated & I wanted to share this amazing recipe with you all again too!**

Happy Fourth of July!

A day to celebrate our Independence and wear, eat and drink Red, White & Blue!

I have to say that I was excited when I found this cocktail online at the barnonedrinks website!

I haven't had Hpnotiq is quite a few years and was excited to try it again.

I was given a bottle by one of my husbands Best Men at our wedding and have liked it ever since.......but that was some years ago.

I gave tonight's cocktail 4.5 shots out of 5.

This is a very yummy cocktail!  The citrus vodka blends very well with the Hpnotiq and sprite to give it a yummy citrusey flavor that goes down pretty smooth.

This is a perfect way to celebrate the 4th surrounded by family, friends and cocktails!

I hope you find a patriotic cocktail in color or name......or just a cocktail to celebrate our national holiday with today!

Tropical Hawaiian Kiss

Tropical Hawaiian Kiss

Tropical Hawaiian Kiss, cocktail

Last Friday I had one of my amazing friends call and say, "Hey, I know it's pizza Friday at your place, so can we pick up a pizza and come over?".

Great minds because I was literally online adding toppings to our pizzas we were going to order.

See, at our house Friday used to mean "Pizza Friday", then it turned into "Pizza and Beer Friday".

Last Friday was "Pizza, Beer & Cocktails Friday"...........which I think is kinda cool.

Needless to say I needed some good 'ole fashioned drinking and laughing therapy that night.  I decided that I was going to grab some stuff from my bar and just create something completely new.

Did it.

It was a winner..........like so much that we each had 3.

Don't judge me.......it was a long week!

I am a HUGE fan of banana liqueur.

Like HUGE!

I love the way it smells, I love how it adds such an amazing flavor to my cocktails, I just love everything about it.

Now my friend had never had it before........I KNOW RIGHT?

Simply crazy talk!
I mean she's a friend of The Cocktail Lady and she's never had banana liqueur?

I must be slipping!

Needless so say, she's in love with it........almost as much as I am!  Like I said, she's an amazing friend!

This cocktail was SO delicious!

Like I said above, we had 3.........each.

As we sat there drinking our cocktails we went through a handful of names to call this cocktail.  In the end, the 3 words that kept on popping up were the three I chose.

Here is my recipe for a Tropical Hawaiian Kiss:

Ninja Turtle Cocktail

Day 39

Ninja Turtle
4.5 shots out of 5

**UPDATE: It's been over 4 years since I have posted this cocktail and it has been my most viewed and most popular post to date!  I am excited about that, but also excited for the TMNT2 movie that comes out today so that we can all enjoy this cocktail as well as the others I have listed below in honor of it!  Cheers!!**

ninja turtle cocktail, TMNT, malibu rum, coconut rum, melon liqueur, midori, pineapple juice

Ding, Ding, Ding another winner!!  Thanks again Fire Wench!!  I had all of the ingredients for the Ninja Turtle, so I figured I'd give it a shot!  Yum!!

I have to admit that when I first started straining this cocktail into my glass I got a little scared.....because of it's neon-ey green color.  I have to say, do NOT let the color fool you!

This is a good cocktail!!  It kind of has a creamy taste/after-taste.  It's kind of weird that it has that because you're not expecting it at all, but it's definitely weird in a GOOD way!

I gave tonight's cocktail 4.5 shots out of 5.  The Ninja Turtle is even husband approved!

I have to admit that ever since I decided that I was going to make it tonight, I have been singing the theme song to "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" over and over again in my head!  And now I will say "You're Welcome", because I'm sure about 90% of you are now singing that song as well!

**Don't forget to check out my individual ninja turtle cocktails!  There's TMNT Raphael, TMNT Michelangelo, TMNT Leonardo, TMNT Donatello and Hockey Stick!**

Hockey Stick

Hockey Stick

Hockey Stick, TMNT, cocktail, Casey Jones

I have been off on what day of the week it is all day.....well all week to be honest.

I must have checked the calendar at least 5 times today to make sure that it was Thursday.

Every time the kids have a day off of school whether it's a holiday or a teacher in service day, I get screwed up all week long of the days.  I had a couple "OH NO!" moments today thinking that I was getting this post out on Friday when I really wanted it to go out on Thursday.

Jen, it's Thursday.  Tomorrow is pizza and beer Friday!

I created a cocktail for all 4 of the Ninja Turtles over the past 4 days.

In reality I totally could have stopped there, but as I mentioned in an earlier post, our family really likes Stephen Amell and since he is playing Casey Jones in the TMNT2 movie I just knew I have to create a cocktail for him too.

Tonight I did just that, so Stephen Amell if you are reading this (right Jen, like he's a faithful long time reader of your blog.....in your dreams), this cocktail is for you!

In my mind, if Casey Jones was to go to a bar after a long night of being a vigilante and fighting crime, he would order a cocktail that had whiskey in it.

Once I decided that I was going to use whiskey, I opened up my bar and there it was front and center......Jack Daniels Honey Whiskey!  It's like it knew I needed to use it or something.

So I added Honey Whiskey, orange juice and lemon juice.

I shook it up real good to give everything the perfect chill and strained it into my mason jar.

After that was all said and done my husband called to let me know what channel the Warriors game is on.

SUPER EXCITED ABOUT HOW WELL THEY ARE DOING AGAIN THIS YEAR!!

While we were on the phone I was telling him about what I used in tonight's cocktail and he gave me the name Hockey Stick.

Pretty clever.......but I told him I'll throw it in the pile of names (of which I only had one) and let him know if his won or not.

It did, but I think I'll make him wait a little longer before I let him know I chose it......see we're very competitive and we're both always right (actually he usually is right 95% of the time, but I like to pretend that I am too) so this would be a "win" in his book and the longer I can go without letting him know he won, the better......it's the small things ya know?

Don't forget toe check out my other turtle cocktail: TMNT RaphaelTMNT MichelangeloTMNT LeonardoTMNT Donatello as well as my Ninja Turtle cocktail.

Here is my recipe for a Hockey Stick:

print recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 ounces honey whiskey
  • 3 ounces orange juice
  • 1/2 ounce lemon juice
Instructions
Fill a cocktail glass up half way with ice cubes. In a shaker, add ice and all of the ingredients above. Shake and dump everything into the cocktail glass.
